ICU DUTY

I learned and practiced advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, including airway management, intravenous access, and administration of emergency medications.

I was able to acknowledge skills related to the  mechanical ventilation. Like understanding modes of ventilation, ventilator settings, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), and troubleshooting common ventilation complications.

I studies the management of organ dysfunction and failure in critically ill patients - respiratory failure, acute kidney injury (AKI), septic shock, acute coronary syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic failure, and neurologic emergencies.

I  learned how to analyze data, prioritize interventions, and make evidence-based clinical judgments.

  1. Interpretation of chest x ray.
  2. Foleys catheterization done for 6patients.
  3. Ryles tube insertion done for 5 patients.
  4. Created PAJR groups for every patient admitted
  5. I assisted for 2 intubations.
  6. I learned ABG sample collection

NEPHROLOGY DUTY

I gained knowledge about various renal diseases, including acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD), glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, renal tubular acidosis, and renal stone disease. Understanding the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic workup, and treatment options for each condition is crucial.

I involved interpreting laboratory tests specific to kidney function including analyzing blood tests like serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), electrolytes and urine tests such as urinalysis, urine microscopy, and proteinuria quantification.

I closely observed  the management of hypertension, especially when it is associated with kidney disease with a focus on managing renal-related hypertension.

I assisted for central lines

I assisted for 1 intubation

I helped my PG’s in CPR with two patients.

WARD DUTY

I was able to gather comprehensive histories, perform focused physical examinations, and explain diagnoses and treatment plan.

Created PAJR groups for every patient admitted

PSYCHIATRY POSTINGS

I learned how to conduct a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, which includes obtaining a detailed history, performing a mental status examination, and considering cultural and contextual factors.

I got to know about  various mental health disorders, including major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder), bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.

I understood the principles of psychopharmacology, including the use of different classes of psychiatric medications, their mechanisms of action, potential side effects, and indications for their use.

I might have explored the importance of cultural competence in psychiatry and how cultural factors can influence the manifestation and treatment of mental health disorders.
